I have been trying for weeks to find the new message board. I have tried the link on the website several times and it doesn't work for me. I finally had the brilliant idea to just do a web search and... VOILA! It worked. This is really nice. Most of you know me already, but I'll introduce myself again. My name is Terri Trent, I live in Knoxville, TN, and I love Michelle Nixon & Drive. I haven't been able to get to any shows lately just because they're all so doggone far away. I do need to find out about the show in Hendersonville, hopefully I can try to get to that one. Hope we can get some more people on here. |

Reply with quote | #2 | Hi All, I just registered on the new Message Board but I'm not "new" either. Kenny & I have been following Michelle since 1997 when she was with Local Exchange. We go wherever she is within decent driving time. We live on a large farm in Windsor, York County, PA. We attend the All American BG Jam in Orange, VA, the Mineral, BGF in VA, the "Nothing Fancy" BGF in VA, regularly. We occasionally go to Arcadia, MD & Gettysburg, PA festivals. The Eichelberger Performing Arts Center in Hanover, PA had a BG series of 4 shows per year. We have been series regulars since it started in 2000 or so. We saw Ralph Stanley last night and he didn't look to good. He is 80 & it is starting to show. Neither one of us play an instrument or sing worth a darn but we sure love BG music & singing along. Sometimes MN & D get up our way but I checked the schedule & so far they are not booked anywhere near us. Maybe a local promoter will get smart & book them so we won't have so far to go to see them. I recognized Terri's name from the previous message board. I hope some of the people from there join us here. Sue & Kenny |

Reply with quote | #3 | Hey there. I'm Fitz. When registering, I put my name where it says "signature". I guess I took it too literally. Oh well, I host a radio show in Fairfax County,VA called "The Fitz Mix". It's a 2 hour show where I play rock, pop and especially Bluegrass songs. About half of the program is bluegrass (with some cajun and Irish folk too). I'm on live Fridays from 1pm to 3pm et. It's on the net at fcac.org. Most of my listeners hear the show on cable TV in Fairfax County,VA on channel 37- WEBR.
I only recently "discovered" Michelle Nixon. Wow what a great voice! Of course I play her songs on the show. I've only been an active bluegrass fan since 2000, so I'm still playing (note the pun) catch-up. Since my show is not all-bluegrass it's not listed on that many bluegrass links/directories. Bluegrass music is great stuff. I'm glad I finally caught on. Hey better late than never.
By the way, I live in Alexandria,VA and I also work at a radio station in DC. My radio show is my own project separate from "work".

Hey there, Sue and Mike! Sue I do remember you from the other board, it's great to have you back. I haven't gotten to see MN&D in a long time, and I'm missing them a lot. They just haven't gotten down my way either. Mike, I wish I could pick up your radio show here in Knoxville, TN. You don't have a webcast, do you? Welcome to the board. |

Reply with quote | #5 | Hey Terri. Boy I'm a lunkhead. Yes I do my show on the net as well. http://www.fcac.org . It's live and I don't currently have past shows posted. BTW, last Friday I played Shenandoah and In My Heart. Shenandoah was my tribute song to the late Red Shipley who did a BG radio show on WAMU called "Stained-Glass Bluegrass".
Also you can check my page at: myspace.com/thefitzmix. Lots of folks you may know in there. Also I was a DJ on the WWB briefly but my 'ol computer had too many issues so I had to cancel my show there. I still visit the WWB chatroom sometimes.

Great Mike, I'll try to remember to listen next Friday.. or at least try to listen.. I'm still living in the dark ages and working with the dreaded dial-up. If I make it in, I'll email you and let you know I'm listening.. and you have to play me some Michelle.. |

Reply with quote | #7 | Hi folks. I'm Jim Hady. I presently live in Flag Pond, TN which is about 1/2 way between Johnson City, TN and Asheville, NC. It's been several years since I've been able to see Michelle perform. The first time I saw her was at a festival in April 2000 in Florida. I hope to see Michelle in concert again soon.
